I have written a quick update of Aya’s progress over the last 6 months. During this time, she has taken all of the Workshop classes and, in doing so, her confidence and talents have increased dramatically with each passing month.
At the conclusion of her Showcase Preparation class, the Instructor felt that she’ll do very well at her very first Talent Showcase. She prepared her own commercial for a Japanese candy called Hi-Chew and did a great job. We’ll see how it goes at the Talent Showcase this coming Saturday, the 27th.
A highlight for Aya has been the two days that she worked as an extra on Disney Channel’s Sonny With A Chance. It was her 8th birthday on January 13th and on that very day, she received the call to work on the 14th and 15th. Since Sonny With A Chance is her favorite Disney show, she was ecstatic. Demi Lovato and the cast were very friendly towards her both days, and even posed for pictures and signed autographs.
She was one of four kids and was in three scenes with some good face-time. The show should air in May. Afterwards, she said that she wants her own Disney show when she gets older!
In addition to her acting and modeling aspirations, Aya is a classically-trained pianist who competes regularly. Recently she qualified for a State Finals Competition where, although she didn’t win, she played in front of hundreds of people and performed flawlessly. If you have the time, you should check her out on YouTube playing some of her pieces.
Akiko and I want to thank you and the Hollywood Group for the opportunity for Aya to learn and grow as a child and, maybe one day, work on a regular basis. We are very realistic as to what her chances of success may be but we are happy with her first steps thus far.
Thanks Again,
David Cohen
