KID OF THE MONTH

When I had my first meeting with The Hollywood Group, I didn't know what to expect.  I wasn't shy like most kids when they start, but I was very nervous.  My first meeting was with Bob and he was very nice to me and my mom. I also met up with Candice and she has been very helpful to me and my mom from the start.  I never thought I would become an actress or be on TV!  I was just a normal person at the mall with my family and my best friend when a scout came up to us and told us about The Hollywood Group. So we went to the location she gave us and then I signed up to be an actress.  It was the best thing that has happened to me yet.

I started acting classes at Gray Studios with Chris Vaughn.  It was really fun meeting new kids that share the same dream.  We played games, recited monologues, and just had fun.  I even had a class with Kahlil Joseph.  Then I went to have classes at Little Red Door with Olivia Allen and Lorena Mena.  We worked on commercials & played games. I even got to meet up with some of my friends from Gray Studios.  After Little Red Door, I went to Sterling Studio Actors for Advanced On-Going Training with Constance Tillotson.  She is a great acting teacher and the awesomeness of being an actress continues at her classes.  We work on cold reading, improv, acting games, and acting out our own scenes from rhymes, stories, and even just making up our own.  Also, I love making new friends along the way and acting out scenes with them. Ever since I started classes my confidence level has gotten higher.

My first audition was for “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader”.  I was nervous but as soon as got into the interview room with the casting director it was a piece of cake.  I also had an audition for the role of Judy Garland at the International Dance Academy and I booked it.  It was awesome because I had to sing and learn a dance routine for the audition.

Being on set was cool and tiring.  I was on “The Closer” once and we had to run the scene over and over again. But it was cool meeting the actors on set and, during the breaks, the cast and crew were able to go to the big food cart stuffed with fruits and donuts and a lot of soda and Gatorade.  Everyone was nice and was just having a great time filming.  Also, I was on a student film called “All Kids Count” which obviously had a whole bunch of kid actors. We were filming at a middle school which was cool because I’m starting middle school in the fall.  I met a lot of kids there and it was fun filming with them because we are all different but the same. We were shooting the whole day so we were able to eat lunch together and we got to talk more and that really helped with filming.

My first showcase I was really nervous and when I got into the room with the agents I had a total mental blackout. Then I started taking more classes and my confidence went up.  After a couple of showcases I finally got an agent!  I signed with Aimee Entertainment and it felt great.
I can't tell The Hollywood Group how thankful my mom and I are. We are so fortunate to be with them. They have done so much for us and we want to thank you more than a million times!

Sincerely,
                  Jazmin Pollinger
