It all began as soon as she started walking. Ever since then, for nine years now, Floribelle has been making people around her smile, laugh, and cheer when she performs. She can do it all – acting, singing, modeling, and dancing – plus, she is a straight A and Academic Award student in 4th grade who is also part of the Gifted and Talented Education program.
Fascinated by Hollywood very early on, Floribelle was only too eager to try her luck with The Hollywood Group when we were approached by a talent scout in a mall last March. We excitedly accepted the invitation and went to the Trade St. address in San Diego for the screening. She got a call back by her Talent Coordinator Mitra Hosseini, who clearly saw a budding young talent in her. We signed up with The Hollywood Group for a very reasonable one-time payment and Floribelle immediately started taking her acting classes in order to learn and be ready for the Talent Showcase, and a chance to be seen by agents and be picked up. She finished six classes in two months and was able to go to her first showcase in Los Angeles last August. In the meantime, following the Hollywood Group’s advice, she registered with Kids Management Los Angeles, and Tina Real Casting and it paid off. We got offered many background roles for Hollywood and San Diego film, television and commercial productions; so many that we had to decline many of them because of conflict with school and other scheduled activities. Floribelle was able to apply the lessons she learned from the classes in the different productions she worked on: as a pediatric patient in House, a child contestant in ABC’s reality TV show Meet the Newlyweds 2, an Asian girl in a Big Lots commercial, a child playing in the park in a Humane Society commercial, and a child product tester for the BBC reality TV show, Beat the Boss 2. We got the part for Beat the Boss 2, thanks to Constance Tillotson, a talent manager and acting guru who runs the Sterling Studios acting classes in Los Angeles and San Diego and who has an impressive network in Hollywood. Floribelle is continuing her acting training by attending weekly classes with Constance, and these have been a very big help in improving her technique and confidence.
Floribelle’s hard work to hone her God-given talent and her dedication paid off when she landed a Hollywood agent, Bill Naoum of Commercial Talent. She signed a one-year contract with the agent representing her for work in film, TV, commercials, infomercials and print. She already went to two auditions, one for a Disney Channel TV show called Tasty Time with Zefronk where she has to improvise, and the other for a Target Christmas commercial. Her agent told us that the casting directors said she was excellent in those auditions and that it’s just a matter of time before Floribelle books her first job as a principal actor.
