Maximus and Samantha Rodriguez joined The Hollywood Group in November 2007 when they were approached by a talent scout at a local mall. While they liked to sing, dance and perform for their parents in the family room, they never considered they’d ever do it on stage or on camera. They immediately attended all the classes referred by THG and were very eager to learn. Chris Campbell was their Talent Coordinator and provided tremendous guidance and invaluable advice along the way. They attended their first showcase in January and were approached by five of the six agents who attended.
They signed with AKA in February, 2008. Maximus is represented across the board; while Samantha, who is 5 years old, has commercial representation. They’ve continued their education by attending acting class every Saturday at Sterling Studio. Working with Constance Tillotson, their manager, has been a fantastic experience. They’ve met a lot of other actors and learned so much in the short time they’ve attended. Every week they improve their craft and build their confidence; it’s made such a difference in other areas of their lives. We realized right away how important continuing their acting education would be. They’re constantly learning and building on what was started by THG. They both cannot wait until their “On the Set” acting camp where they will learn what it is like to film their first movie.
“My husband, Jack, and I have seen such growth in the two of them since they started, especially Max. He used to be the kid who shied away from speaking in front of a group or his class. Now he is confident and able to speak comfortably in front of anyone. Their improved self confidence and experience in this environment will serve them well for the rest of their lives,” said Stephanie Rodriguez, their mom/biggest fan/chauffer.
In May, Maximus and Samantha filmed their first commercial together (!) for Pollo Campero an international restaurant, for Time Warner. Being on the set was a great experience. Samantha loved getting her makeup done (requesting several lip-gloss retouches) and they were able to apply their acting skills onset. They also had an opportunity to observe the technical side of the business which improved their acting while providing a new understanding of the business. The experience was incredibly special because it was their first commercial, and they shared it together. They were treated great on the set and had a fabulous time “working”. They are both looking forward to their next opportunity.
We’re still amazed at all that’s happened since we joined The Hollywood Group. The memories, experiences and people who’ve come into our lives have been such a gift. We thank The Hollywood Group for believing in us and giving our family this opportunity; and especially for bringing Constance into our lives, we love her! This journey has become one that our whole family has embraced and we’re so grateful.
