The Hollywood Group is proud to crown Cassidy Jones as the January Kid of the Month. In July of 2005, Cassidy was scouted and quickly became a very eager participant. “She’s cute and adorable with a lot of potential,” says Kiara Raydan, Jones’ talent counselor. “You get the sense she really wants this to become a reality, so she’s giving it all she’s got,” continues Raydan. The nearly seven year old Lancaster native (her birthday is January 14th) has matured in many ways including her listening skills, which are an integral facet of the acting discipline. “In the past, Cassidy has had problems listening to mommy. Since she’s been with the Hollywood Group, I’ve noticed a distinct improvement in her listening skills; she takes direction better than ever,” says an enthused Terri Doerfler, Cassidy’s mother.
Cassidy attended her first ScoutServe showcase on Saturday, December 3rd. “She loved it and wants to do more of it. She definitely was a little nervous, so we need to work on that,” states Terri. Come February she will begin ongoing training with Hollywood Group acting instructor and talent manager, Constance Tillotson. Tillotson witnessed Cassidy’s audition on December 3rd and enjoyed her performance. “Constance said she may be interested in Cassidy in the future but not yet. She still needs more work.” Cassidy and Terri reconnected with Constance at the December 18th Showcase Screening. “Constance sees potential, so she agreed to begin ongoing training. My daughter wants this as a career, and she’s willing to work hard,” says Terri. Tillotson will see to it that Casey does just that. Nearly all of her students are actively auditioning and booking commercial and film gigs. Tillotson has a wide variety of industry contacts including directors, producers, and agents.
Cassidy has kept busy through Kids! Background too. She’s worked on a handful of shows including West Wing, Cold Case, and Charmed. She also worked on What About Brian, a new show set to air sometime in 2006. The show stars Barry Watson (7th Heaven) and Rosanna Arquette (The Whole Nine Yards). “This was the first time she actually worked with a star,” exclaims Terri. “She was called back for a second day which was a real treat. The entire cast and crew made her feel really special. The icing on the cake was when one of the Assistant Directors asked for Cassidy’s headshot for future reference. I want to thank the Hollywood Group for allowing Cassidy to gain all this wonderful exposure; the future looks real promising.”
Congratulations on receiving this honor. Here’s to the future!
